The day of surgery continued……

My Husband has just spoke to the vets and Teddys surgery went well, he is awake although a little groggy and he has just had some food put into his cage. The vetinary nurse said he may not want to eat but knowing my little bundle of love he will. My Ted won’t pass up the chance of food for to long. He has had pain relief injections and will be staying in overnight. I’m just worried about how i’m going to react when i get to see him. I love him so much xxx

UPDATE…. We recieved a phone call from the vets to tell us that Teddy is up and about and walking around. AMAZING 🙂 What did i say about him and his food? Yep you guessed it gobbled and stored away in his fave place…..his belly. I was shocked when my husband said they were happy for him to come home tonight, we have decided on letting him stay overnight just incase he needs some stronger pain relief and his wound is weeping a little. Ted is amazing and strong for a little dog and i feel as proud as punch xxx

  1. Please don’t worry to much about the 1st time you see Teddy after the surgery. We were worried too… but as soon as we saw our Hunter we were overcome with joy just to have our wonderful dog back. Hunter needed us to be positive for him and he was received into loving and supportive arms. We have been positive ever since and he is thriving in this type of environment. You will get used to Teddy’s new normal soon and all will be well.. we’re sure of it!

  2. Glad to hear Teddy had a successful surgery, and is now in recovery. I was worried about the first time seeing Max after surgery too. But once I was there, I was just so happy to see him up and about that I didn’t care he was missing a leg. I bet you will feel the same too! Keep updating on his recovery and progress!

  3. Wow! Eating already? This is is such a great sign! What a terrific way to start the week, I’m so hoppy to hear he went through surgery like a champ. The rest will be a breeze, I can feel it!

  4. Woohoo!!! Go Teddy!

It might be worth looking at the photos of the post-op dogs found on the forums here. They helped me a lot in prepping for Sam’s homecoming. We kept Sam in the hospital two nights, but he wasnt up and about quite as fast as your Ted. Eating and being up already are really good signs. The hardest part is over. Now is the time to heal and recover.

Keep it up Ted-boy!!! We are rootin’ fur you!

  5. Awww Congrats Teddy!!! you are a champ!!

And now the adjusting begins (and I say that for the humans) Teddy will do really well, I can just feel it!!

Keep us posted, and keep your chin up.

    XOXO
Hugs from Fenway, Macy, Mommy and David
